Athlete Could Play Either Side

The Bobcat staff continues to mine East Texas for talent, and at their recent Junior Day they offered another talent, this one could play on either side at the next level.

Cody Mitchell is an athlete that is being recruited as a hybrid TE, while some programs like him on the defensive line at D-End. He stands 6’6” 230lbs and runs an unofficial 4.61 40 time. He has long strides and breaks past opponents quickly, a little more weight and strength, and P5 offers could very well be rolling in. He already has one in the bag.

“My coached talked to TCU and they liked my film but said I need to put more weight on. I’m still growing and going to take a little while for me to fill my body out so its going to be a little challenging to put on more weight right now”, said Mitchell.

He already holds offers from Missouri, Lamar, Texas State and there could be a few more on the way, Louisiana Tech, and University of Texas are also in the mix and have been actively recruiting the Jasper High School product.

Mitchell recently took in Texas State and was one of the handful of offers that went out. He really enjoyed his visit to San Marcos and the Bobcats could be a strong candidate for Mitchell if everything goes right for them.

“It was great, they showed me the facility, they’ve put a lot of money to improve it to make it look nice, I would love to play there. They talked about my position and what they want from me. The coaches really liked me and they’re great and easy to talk too”, said Mitchell.

Even though Mitchell really liked his visit to San Marcos he still is weighing his options and doesn't plan on making a decision anytime soon. Look for the 'Cats to stay on him and as the summer approaches, it would not be surprising to see this tall, rangy prospect heat up on the recruiting trail.
