WR Looking To Visit
At 6'3" 205lbs, and 4.5 speed, it's only a mater of time before you will be a hot commodity. Jared Atkinson of Horn High School is about to be that. On Monday, Texas State offered him and made him a target. Add that to existing offers from Texas Tech, SMU, and Illinois State. TCU, Kansas, and Oklahoma have all been in contact and are showing interest at this point, but have yet to offer. Of all the programs listed above, he's only visited SMU this spring. That could change in the very near future according to Atkinson. "I have decided to take a visit soon, sometime during the spring or summer. I have a friend that does track and field at Texas State. My other friend that I go to school with, he's also looking at Texas State for track. I just need to know more about them. " Most high school prospects are quick to say that playing time or the possibility of getting to the NFL is the driving force behind their decision, but Atkinson makes it clear that he simply wants a program that will give him the best education. In doing so, he wants to get away from home, not too far, and having a 2-3 hour drive wouldn't be bad at all. Even a 4-5 hour drive from San Marcos wouldn't be out of question. Don't expect a decision anytime soon from Jared, as he's made the decision to wait until after his senior season to make any choice concerning his future. He wants to be able to evaluate all of his options, break them down and make the best choice he can. When it comes to his recruitment the Bobcats have two things going for them. He's planning on visiting soon and wants to stay within driving distance of home. Those are two factors that give the 'Cats a better shot than a punchers chance. The Coaching Staff has to get him on campus, and before and after that, still expect him to reel in plenty of more offers as well.
