The Family Of Mims
Dangerfield High School is located in far East Texas, where there is no shortage of football talent. The Texas State staff has been hitting that trail especially hard over the last few weeks and another target surfaced when they offered Denzel Mims, a 6'4" 175lb wideout. "I talked to Coach Kyle Tatum, I've been hearing that they liked me. My older cousin (David Mims II) goes there, he was telling me that they like me. Then they sent me a letter and called me, and told me that they're offering me," said Mims. The Coaching Staff is pushing for Denzel to get down to campus, hopefully sometime during the summer to take in the program and it'll also give him a chance to catch up with his cousin. "We talk every now and then, we talked a few days ago. He said they have a good program," said Mims. Along with the Bobcats, Central Arkansas, Texas Tech, Arkansas State, and Tulsa have all extended offers. He's looking to take some visits, but Denzel does plan to hit up some camps, and first on the list will be Texas Tech and Baylor, two Big XII programs that are high on his list. The Red Raiders have already offered. With good height that you want to see from your split end, Mims also reports a very respectable 40 time of 4.52, hand held. So with his blend of size and speed, you can see why his recruitment is starting to pick up. At the moment, the Bobcats are another program jockeying for position with Mims, as he's now starting to do research on schools, look for a program that makes him a better person, a better young man, and a chance at playing on Sunday's. Getting Denzel to campus will be critical for TXST, as he is thinking about ending his recruitment before the start of his senior season, giving him just over two and a half months before it's time to make the call.
