Houston Wing Offered

With so much talent in the state of Texas, TXST is focusing on staying home looking for high school talent. The latest offer to go out is to this high flying wing from Houston. We have an update.

Whether it's the DFW, Greater Houston, or Greater San Antonio, the State of Texas produces so much talent on the basketball court, year in and year out. When looking for high school talent, there really is no need to look elsewhere.

Head Coach Danny Kaspar and his staff have locked on to Troy Kinsey of Houston Yates High School. The Lions high flying wing is now up to three offers: Texas State, Louisiana Lafayette, and Henderson State have all extended.

However, when it came to the Bobcats offer it did catch him a bit off guard.

"It's kind of a new program, but when they sent me the letter and I got the call, I did my research, and I was reading about it. I'm still trying to get to know it. I read that they have a good athletic dept, I like that about Texas State and that's it's up the road. I don't have to go way out there," said Kinsey.

Originally he received a letter from the staff, and a call, but with his AAU practice schedule he wasn't able to answer, the staff left him a voice-mail informing him of the offer.

Speaking of AAU, Troy suits up for Gulf Coast Blue Chips, an organization based out of the Houston area. In just a few short weeks, the action will really heat up when College Coaches will be able to attend events during the "Live" period. Kinsey says his team will be in Las Vegas for July, competing against some of the nation's best competition.

That might not be the only traveling he does either. He was planning on visiting ULL, Mississippi Valley College, and potentially a visit to San Marcos. Nothing is set in stone yet.

While he still works on the visits he might take, the Coaching Staff has told Kinsey what it is that they like in his game.

"They said that I can really fit in the system, I can play as a big man but also step out for the mid range. I'm aggressive on the boards," said Kinsey.

Things are just starting to heat up for Troy, so don't look for an end to his recruitment anytime soon. If he continues to impress on the summer circuit in the coming months, look for his offer list to expand.
