1st For Hooks Athlete

A short 30 minute drive from the Texas/Arkansas Border is where you'll find this athlete who stars on both sides of the ball for Hooks High School. He now has a Texas State offer and we have the latest.

One of Texas State's Camps in the DFW was moved to Mansfield High School at the last minute. That didn't change anything for Reshawn Parker, the 6'1.5" 210lb OLB/RB. He showed up, did his thing and not too long after he had his first offer in hand, as Texas State decided to offer.

"I didn’t get offered from a camp, I got offered from my film. I knew I was going to get offered by somebody, but I was really talking to Texas State, I felt they were going to offer me. It wasn’t a big surprise, it was kind of expected," said Parker.

The 'Cats are the first program to offer, but he's also picking up interest from Tulsa, Incarnate Word, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and UTSA.

Parker has already been on campus once, as he was in attendance for TXST's Junior day. At this point he's not sure about any other visit to San Marcos, but has also been to Arkansas, Arkansas State, TCU, and Tulsa. He could also potentially visit Central Arkansas come July.

As a junior, Reshawn starred at RB for Hooks, where he missed the first three games but still managed to run for nearly a 1,000 yards, and 14 TD's. Despite that production, because of his size and athleticism, TXST likes him on defense and has offered as an OLB.

"They (TXST) want me to play outside linebacker. It really doesn’t matter, Tulsa is looking at me as a RB, either way, it doesn’t matter, said Parker. "Right now they have my interest, just like I told the coaches it ain’t about the size of the programs, I want to see how the coaches and players are."

Parker is quick to point out that he's a fan of the Bobcat Coaching Staff and feels that their a genuine staff who are looking out for more than just football.

As we go through the summer, Reshawn could possibly see more options open up, but he's already given thought to ending the process and could be making a decision less than a month from now. If his thoughts hold true, he'd like to commit to the program of his choice by mid-July.
