3-Star LB Considering TXST
With offers from Texas State, Texas Tech, Kansas, SMU, Utah State, Sam Houston State, and gaining interest from Texas A&M, Missouri and Oklahoma, this 3-Star ILB, Noah Spears has a lot to consider in the coming months. Spears hasn't ranked his offers as of yet but he says it is hard for him not to give the edge to his hometown school, "It's all pretty even right now,” said Spears. “I don't think one school has an advantage over the other. I guess I'm leaning towards Tech, mainly because I'm from Lubbock but I'm still considering all the schools." Even though he went to Nimitz HS, Spears was born in Lubbock before moving to Irving when he was nine years old. However, the Bobcats may have an advantage as his cousin is also considering attending TXST as a student, and the idea of going to school with family is enticing for Spears, "If he goes down there and I go down there, maybe we could wake up and study together or something. We could have a pretty good time in college." The 6’2”, 210-lbs Spears has been in contact with Offensive Line Coach Brad Bedell about coming to TXST, "(Bedell) messaged me a few days before (the offer) and we spoke on the phone. He told me he liked my film, I can play and that I could do good things there, and then he offered me a scholarship. I felt blessed, I couldn't do any of this without God, and I was excited. (San Marcos is) not too far from home. It's far enough but it's not too far. It's real nice, especially the campus." With a reported 4.6-forty time and his 6’2”, 210-lb frame, it’s easy to understand why Spears is starting to gain a lot of attention. Scout.com National Recruiting Analysts have him ranked as the 4th ILB in Texas and 16th in the country, "I'm very aggressive. I love to fly around and make plays. If I'm not in on the tackle, I'm somewhere near it. I love flying around and just hitting people hard. I'm really looking for a good football team, you know, how the coaches are. Do they just care about football or do they actually care about you as a person?" Spears has only visited SMU so far but he plans on making a visit to San Marcos either this summer or sometime during the season. We’ll keep you updated on his recruitment.
