3 Star WR To Visit

On the recruiting trail, the Texas State Bobcats are holding their own against some P5 teams. This Central Texas standout has an impressive offer list, including TXST, and has a serious interest in the Bobcats.

Brandon Benson reports 15 offers to his name, with offers from the likes of Texas Tech, SMU, Houston, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Texas State, Wisconsin and more.

The Waco La Vega star hasn't really narrowed down his list of suitors much, but he thinks he Will Pretty soon, and Texas State is in a good position at the moment.

"I still talk to some of the coaches, I've been talking to Head Coach Dennis Franchione, I think it was about two weeks ago, they were just checking in with me," said Benson.

. Brandon is familiar with the Bobcats as he attended the junior day back in February and also has a family tie to San Marcos.

"I went for junior day, it was a real cool program, I liked all the coaches, and they liked me a lot. I really enjoyed myself, and I'm planning on going back very soon," said Benson. "I knew about them because my brother went to Texas State, he was a student. He said it's a good school to go to. He said I would like it down there and have fun. He gave me a little feedback, but on making a decision he doesn't talk about it much."

Even better for the TXST Staff, Benson is planning on returning to campus in the next few weeks with teammate and fellow target Waahid Muhammad (6'6" 280lbs). Brandon is quick to note that Muhammad really likes the 'Cats as well and is talking about Texas State all the time.

Earlier this spring, Benson did take in a TCU camp, where he measured in at 6'0.5" 186lbs and ran a hand held time of 4.46. With good size, and a pretty good 40 time, the TCU staff did tell Benson that they were looking for a bigger type of receiver and held off on an offer.

With a list of who's who to choose from, Brandon has some specific factors that he's looking for from a program.

"I'm looking for a good family place, a school that has good education, good coaches, and somewhere that's going to make me better as a person and player. Good surroundings, and help to get me to the next level," said Benson.

Being teammates, and both having a TXST offer, Brandon does admit that both he and Waahid have talked about possibly committing to the same program, but in the end, both will let their process play out and whatever happens, happens.

Look for Benson and Muhammad to be making another visit to Texas State, potentially in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
