WR Mulling Options

How important is it for Texas State to land wide receivers for the 2016 class? It's currently the most offered position with 15 offers. The staff has targeted another top prospect from the Houston area and we have the latest.

Donell Dunn picked up a Texas State offer back in early May, but in the middle of spring workouts, summer workouts, 7 on 7, we just hadn't been able to catch up with Donell until recently.

He doesn't have any new offers to add to his name, but he has an impressive list so far: Texas State, North Texas, Illinois, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Fresno State, UNLV, and Kansas are all suitors who have scholarships on the table.

The Bobcats have been checking in with Dunn as much as they can, and he admits that Texas State has his attention.

"Texas State has been in contact, I really like their staff and their program a lot. We stayed in touch the most on twitter, about a week ago I messaged with them. I've been talking to wide receivers Coach Jason Johnson," said Dunn.

Donell is preparing for his senior year at Cypress Springs High School and has checked in at 6'0" 190lbs, with above average speed. He reports a hand timed 40 of 4.35, to go along with his Scout.com verified time of 4.51.

So far the only school he's visited this year has been Baylor and he'll be waiting until his senior year to take some other visits. A trip to San Marcos is all but a sure bet.

"It is a school that I'm looking forward to visiting during the season. I went last year because one of my former teammates plays for Texas State, Dilla Rosemond. I liked the fans and it was a good experience," said Dunn. "I've learned that they're division one and I just know it's a really good program."

He plans on most likely making his decision at the end of his senior season, so official visits will be playing a big factor in which program Donell chooses. He also told BobcatIllustrated that he has his eye on some other factors too.

"The offensive staff, they're offensive formations, and what packages they run. Where the university is at. I don't really want to leave Texas, those are factors when I think about my recruiting," said Dunn.

Donell is rated as a Scout.com 3-Star prospect and is ranked as the 18th best WR in the State of Texas, and the 18th best WR in the entire Midlands Region.
