TXST Now In Top 3

Texas State football had another successful camp and a number of commits and targets were on hand. This Irving MacArthur RB was one of them and he came away very impressed.

Talent was plenty on Friday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium. One of those talented recruits was running back target, Artiss Henderson. The 5'10.5" 200lb RB took in the camp, football program, and campus while on an unofficial visit.

It went really good. I got to see some equipment and jerseys. I took in the camp, but I didn't participate, I was just checking it out. We also went to campus," said Henderson.

His visit was the first time he's set foot on campus and not only did the athletic side impress him, but the resources and set up for academics, also were impressive in his eyes.

Artiss took in San Marcos with teammate and fellow Texas State target, Jeshua Hodges, who goes by Josh, some other teammates and his mother.

For the rest of summer he'll continue regularly lifting, focusing on squats, bench, and incline. He also works in some cardio by running hills or hitting the track for a couple of laps. Henderson and the rest of his teammates will start two a days on August 10th.

The visit to Texas State leaves the Bobcats right at the top with Illinois State and Nevada. Artiss doesn't have a ranking of the three programs, but when asked he lists these three as his favorites.

Don't expect a decision anytime soon as his plan is to go through the season, then make his choice after his senior year. Area recruiter and Offensive Line Coach Brad Bedell did let Henderson know that both he and Hodges would have a good chance of competing for early playing time as freshman, if they chose to don the maroon and gold. It's a serious option for both of them at the moment.

Talk about Henderson's visit in the Cats Den Insider forum.
