We take a look at how the Sun Belt Conference did in Week 2

BI Contributor Roy Burkhart brings us his weekly recap of how teams in the Sun Belt Conference did in Week 2. Here's a shotgun blast of the winners and losers.

Georgia State (1-1)

Georgia State rolled into week 2 action against conference foe, New Mexico State. The Panthers almost allowed the Aggies to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but managed to hold on for the win in a 34-32 Final. They head to Oregon to take on the high powered Ducks this coming week.

Texas State (1-1)

BobcatNation wanted to see improvment and TXST did just that. The Bobcats made strides this week, and now sit at 1-1. Bouncing back from the drubbing they took at Florida St. last week, to Beat PVAMU by a score of 63-24. The Bobcats put up almost 700 yds offense, and the whole team looked solid. They play host to the 1-1 Southern Miss. Golden Eagles this week.

Louisiana Lafayette (1-1)

The Cajuns destroyed Northwestern State by a score of 44-17. Looking very solid against a completely outmatched team, and showed some of the power they are capable of. This week the Cajuns are off, and get to prepare for Akron in Week 4.

Troy (1-1)

Taking care of business, the Trojans routed Charleston Southern, 44-16. The Trojans showed flashes of the speed they had in years past, overmatching the Bucaneers. Troy heads to Wisconsin this week, and will be a major underdog, but hey; every dog has its day. Could Saturday be Troys day?

Louisiana Monroe (1-1)

The Warhawks Blanked the Nichols Colonels this week 47-0 , and hope to carry that momentum into practice this week. They have a bye week to get prepared for the #2 Ranked Alabama crimson Tide on September 26th. The Tide should roll over ULM in week 4 action, but stay tuned.

Appalachian State (1-1)

Playing a school from the "Power 5," the Mountaineers were one of the 5 teams in the conference to lose this week and fell to Clemson, as expected 41-10. They have a week off now, to recover and prepare for Old Dominion. A game that will be a stiff test against a fledgling program from Conference USA.

Georgia Southern (1-1)

The Eagles flew through the Western Michigan Broncos this week, 43-17. Scoring steadily and often from the opening whistle. Playing host this week to Citadel, the Eagles have a good game ahead of them as Citadel sits at 2-0 and are looking to pull one over the Eagles.

South Alabama (1-1)

It was a big task, but traveling to Lincoln the Jaguars had a tough matchup with Nebraska, falling by a score of 48-9. They were never really able to get anything going against the much bigger Cornhuskers. South Alabama travels to Southern California to take on San Diego State from the Mountain West.

Idaho (0-2)

It was no surprise, but the Vandals were rolled by the #8 Ranked USC Trojans this past weekend, 59-9. Now sitting with an 0-2 record they play host to Wofford who is coming off a bye week. This game should see them reach the win column, and remove the goose egg from the front of their record.

Arkansas State (0-2)

With a Top 25 opponent in front of them, the Red Wolves fell in week 2 action against the #22 Missouri Tigers, but not as expected. This game turned very competitive and The Red Wolves only lost 27-20. It should serve as reassurance that the Red Wolves are a top team again and heading into week 3 against Missouri St., should see them come away with their first win of the year.

New Mexico State (0-2)

The Aggies lost their conference opener to Georgia State this week but only by 2 points, 34-32. It was a tight game that either team could of pulled out, NMSU must now reset and forget this heartbreaker and prepare for UTEP (0-2). The Miners and Aggies will tanlge in their annual I-10 rivalry in what should be a hotly contested game, with both teams looking for their first win on the season.
