Red Raiders Advance in NIT

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (19-12) defeated the Nevada Wolfpack (18-14) to advance to the next round of the NIT tournament. Andre Emmett led all scorers with 18 points.

Both teams struggled to find their shot early in the first half.  Texas Tech broke the deadlock with an 8-0 run to take a 22-13 lead with 4:47 left in the half.  Nevada made several attempts to get back into the game, but the Red Raiders managed to keep the lead near 10 points for the rest of the game.  The Red Raiders won by a final score of 66-54.

Once again the Red Raiders showed how good they can be when they have a balanced offensive attack.  Andre Emmett led all scorers with 18 points.  Kasib Powell scored 15 points.  Robert Tomaszek and Will Chavis both finished with 10 points on the night.  The motion offense is impressive to watch when everyone is involved.  If the Red Raiders had played like this earlier, they might be playing in the NCAA tournament right now.

Texas Tech has played solid defense all season and tonight was no exception.  Texas Tech was able to pressure Nevada into 21 turnovers.  It is obvious from the defensive play of this team that they have not given up on this season.  The Red Raiders showed great heart in tonight's game.  They could go deep into the NIT if they continue to play aggressive defense.
