Tech Golfers Finish 12th at The Maxwell

The Texas Tech University "B" team finished in 12th place at the 12th annual Maxwell Intercollegiate in Ardmore, Okla., Sunday. The Red Raiders shot a final-round 294 (+14). Oklahoma State was the tournament winner with a three-round score of 829 (-11). The tournament was held at the 6,442-yard, par-70 Dornick Hills Country Club.

Freshman Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas/Creekview), a regular among Tech's top five, led the Red Raiders in a 33rd-place tie. Dresser opened the event with a 76, but followed with consecutive 71s to finish with an 8-over 218. Freshmen William Haddrell (London, England) and Casey Jones (Granbury, Texas/Granbury) finished tied in 47th place, while Drew Hackler (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) finished tied at 61st. Brian Smith (Lubbock, Texas/Drake) finished in an 82-place tie. Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan won the event with a 6-under 204, staving off Tulsa's David Inglis, who shot 65 and 66 in his final two rounds. Following Oklahoma State, Tulsa and SMU tied in second place, while Arkansas and Oklahoma finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Texas A&M and North Texas tied in sixth place and Oklahoma City, Washington and Houston finished eighth through 10th. Colorado finished ahead of the Red Raiders in 11th place, while North Florida, Penn State and Louisiana-Lafayette closed out the 15-team field. The Texas Tech "B" team comprised Red Raider golfers who haven't seen a lot of tournament action this season, with the exception of Dresser.
