Baucum's Bits: A&M Rivalry Edition

John Baucum takes a look into the Texas A&M rivalry with a special edition of Baucum's Bits.

*A&M leads the all-time series between the schools 36-32-1 and is currently riding a 2-game win streak after Texas Tech enjoyed a 3-game streak and a 4-game streak in Mike Leach's tenure.

* Tech's 59-28 win in 2003 represents the Red Raiders' most points scored and 52 points scored in 2009 is A&M's high point mark in the series.

* The largest margin of victory occurred in the first meeting, a 47-6 A&M win in Lubbock in 1927.

*Zach Thomas' infamous interception of Corey Pullig in 1995 to propel Tech to a 14-7 victory started a string of 3 straight Tech wins and 4 out of five won by the Red Raiders where the final margin was 7 points or less.

*Texas A&M won 21-0 in Lubbock in 1957. That was a good year for the Aggies as John David Crow won A&M's only Heisman Trophy in school history.

*Texas Tech won the game by 4 points 2 years in a row: 16-12 in 1964 and 20-16 in 1965.

*Sammy Morris has 2 memorable moments against A&M- an 81 yard TD catch against the Aggies in College Station in 1996, and 170 rushing yards against A&M in 1999, despite having 32 career carries prior to that contest.

 * BJ Symons set a Big 12 record with 8 touchdown passes against the Aggies in Lubbock in 2003.

* Wes Welker set the NCAA record for punt return touchdowns. None was more dramatic than his return in 2002 which sparked Tech to a 48-47 win in double overtime in 2002.
