It's that time of year again.
No it's not Christmas or any other holiday, but rather Homecoming at Texas Tech.
Special events have filled the schedule throughout the week heading up to the big moment at halftime in the Texas Tech vs. Kansas State game tonight when the new King and Queen are crowned.
For the Red Raiders the past few Homecoming games they have been crowning themselves the winners at the end of regulation.
Tech all-time on Homecoming is 50-28-3, and the Red Raiders have won four-straight victories since their 2006 loss to Missouri 38-21.
If history repeats itself, then No. 17 Kansas State is in trouble because the Missouri Tigers found themselves in the same situation last season – coming into Lubbock ranked and on Homecoming.
Students rushed the field following the final second ticking off the game clock, Tech had upset then-No. 14 Missouri 24-17 to cap off the Homecoming week of festivities with a Red Raider win.
For the Wildcats playing Tech on homecoming in Raiderland has not faired well for Kansas State as in both meetings Tech has blown them out.
In 2009 the Wildcats fell 66-14 and in the 2005 meeting it was another ugly score in favor of the Red Raiders, 59-20.
So in the end it might be a good thing that Kansas State is coming to town this weekend, but it will all depend on the Red Raiders to finish the job in the end.
Another upset in the making?
You never know what can or will happen under the lights of Jones AT&T Stadium on a Saturday night especially on Homecoming weekend.
So sit back and enjoy the game and the Homecoming festivities, and some good ole Big 12 football at the Jones.
