The countdown has begun.
Everyday until the first pitch of the 2012 Collegiate Baseball season, a player will be announced on the 2012 Top 100 Players Preseason list according to College Baseball Daily.
On Monday, Texas Tech senior John Neely was announced as No. 88 in the Top 100 players in the country following a great 2011 campaign - Neely joins Texas A&M's Krey Bratsen as the only Big 12 players on the list thus far.
Neely, a Sugarland native enters his final season with the
Red Raiders following a stellar junior campaign where he went 9-1 for Tech and also notched seven saves as well.
The right-hander in 60 and 2/3 innings pitched recorded an ERA of 2.97, with 56 strikeouts, 21 walks and allowed no long balls in the season.
In 2011, Neely was named to a couple of watch lists including the National Player of the Year, and tied for second on Tech's all-time single season appearance list with 30 outings last year.
On last year's list there was only one Red Raider named to it as Barrett Barnes came in at No. 32.
The annual Red & Black series begins on Sunday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park with first pitch at 4 p.m.
