Baucum's Bits: Tech Makes History with Upset

A couple of notes from what will be the most talked about upset this week.

*Perhaps the Red Raiders should perform rain dances before every game. For the second time this season, a game was delayed by weather. Texas Tech beat New Mexico 59-13 after lightning interrupted the game and took down Oklahoma after two different thunderstorms blew through Oklahoma by a score of 41-38.

*The number 3. Oklahoma was ranked #3 in 2007 when the Red Raiders beat the Sooners in 2007. To that point, the game stood as the highest ranked team Tech had beaten in the Big 12 era. The Sooners came into the game ranked #3 in the AP Poll.

*The Red Raiders also became only the third team to beat a Bob Stoops coached OU team at Owens Field.

*Coming into the game, Oklahoma was ranked  #3 in the AP poll and #1 in the coaches poll. The Tech victory now stands as a program best for a road contest.

*The number zero. A week after turning the ball over four times in an agonizing loss to Kansas State, the Red Raiders did not have a single turnover (aside from losing the ball on downs.)

*Texas Tech never trailed in the game.

*The Red Raiders led at the half for only the third time all season.

* Prime time Red Raiders: Tech was on TV for the sixth consecutive week and 79% of the country had the game broadcast on their ABC carrier. And the Red Raiders' game against Iowa State is slated to be on Fox Sports at 6PM.

*For the second straight week, the Red Raiders recovered an onside kick. Tech recovered one against K-State as the kicking team and against Oklahoma as the receiving team.

*Texas Tech did not allow OU to get a first down in the second quarter.

*Alex Torres set a new career high with three touchdown receptions.
