For the first time tonight the Lady Raiders take the court and for the first time this season not playing themselves.
Texas Tech faces off against the Angelo State Belles tonight at 6 p.m. at the Junell Center-Stephens Arena in San Angelo in an exhibition game.
The two squads met each other for the first time last season in Lubbock, where the Lady Raiders took the game with ease winning 92-46.
Tech returns 11 players from last years NCAA Tournament team including a strong junior class and two seniors including Kierra Mallard, who was Tech's leading scorer last season averaging 12 points per game and 7.2 rebounds as well.
The Belles are coming off a season going 17-10 over all and 10-4 in the Lone Star Conference making a return to the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament after missing the season before.
For the Belles they return eight players from last season's squad including their leading scorer in Paige Weishuhn, who averaged 10.3 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Among the players on the roster for Angelo State there are five new faces.
It's only an exhibition game, but both teams are looking at it like a regular season game, especially the Lady Raiders as they get ready to march into the rest of the preseason and Big 12 Conference play.
