Baucum's Bits: Texas Edition

John Baucum takes a deeper look into the rivalry between Texas and Texas Tech.

*Texas leads the all-time series 44-15 and leads 28-5 in Austin.

*Texas Tech has won 3 against Texas under Mack Brown. All three wins have come in Lubbock (1998, 2002 and 2008). Tech's best performance in Austin during Mack Brown's tenure was a 43-40 Red Raider loss in 2003. Texas holds a six-game home win streak over the Red Raiders as Tech's last victory in Austin came in 1997.

*UT holds a 15-7 lead in the last 22 meetings, 10-2 in the last 12 meetings.

*This weekend's game is designated as the veteran's game and will feature a flyover of F-18 hornets and a jump team from the 82nd Airborne from Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

*Seth Doege will face a familiar foe this weekend. High school teammate Mason Walters has played in 20 career games for UT with 19 starts.

*Texas ranks 17th in rushing offense (218.86 ypg), 49th in total offense (414.57 ypg) and 40th in scoring offense (31.86 ppg).

*Saturday's game snaps a streak of three straight years that the Tech-Texas game has been played in prime time on ABC. The game, however, will be shown to a national television on FX.

*A win on Saturday in Austin would give Texas Tech four consecutive true road wins.

*A win over the Longhorns would make the Red Raiders bowl eligible for a Big 12 record 19th consecutive season.

*Texas Tech's game is televised for the 8th consecutive week. Only the season opener against Texas State did not receive TV time.
