2012 Tech Baseball Schedule Announced

On Tuesday the 2012 Red Raider Baseball Schedule was released with the Tech playing 33 home games.

The 56-game slate is set for the 2012 baseball season for the Red Raiders, with some familiar opponents and some unfamiliar.

The Red Raiders open the season with the Red Raider Classic on February 17 in the newly renovated Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park against Missouri State at 4 p.m. and the weekend will also include games against Tennessee Tech as well.

The very next weekend the Red Raiders will host the Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic for the third consecutive season. St. John's and Northern Illinois travel to Lubbock for that tournament which runs February 24-27.

The first time the Red Raiders play away from Rip Griffin Park will be at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, playing in the Houston College Classic, March 2- 4.

In the tournament Tech will face three No. 1 seeded teams from last year's NCAA Tournament - Rice, Arizona State and TCU.

Following all these tournaments and non-conference games, the Red Raiders travel to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears to open Big 12 Conference play, March 16-18.

Tech will have road series against Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, while having home series against Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and Kansas State.

The Red Raiders open Big 12 Play at home against the Sooners with the series starting March 23 and going through March 25.

The end of the season will be the hardest stretch for Tech as it has 10 of its final 13 games on the road, before ending the regular season with the Kansas State series, May 17-19, before the top eight teams in the Big 12 head to Kansas City to play for a Big 12 title.

Following the Big 12 tournament, the Red Raiders would like to be packing their bags for a NCAA Regional game and start their march towards Omaha, for the College World Series.
