This will be the first true look fans will get at Tech under the tutelage of new Head Coach Billy Gillispie and the Trojans may be the best team to get his career started against.
The Trojans went to the 2010 NIT Tournament, but their 8-21 record from a year ago showed they are far removed from the success of that team.
Though Troy does return their second leading scorer and preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Point Guard Will Weathers, he is their only returning starter, and only three players on their team have game-time experience.
Weathers will be the center of attention for Tech's defense as he finished sixth in the nation last year with 6.6 assists per game.
The Trojans however, lost their leading scorer and second leading rebounder from a year ago to graduation and of the three returners aside from Weathers, Stephen Cunningham led them in scoring with a mere 4.4 points a game.
One player could very easily give a team problems and Weathers will have to be shadowed the entire game. He led the Sun Belt in steals per game last year with 1.9 and can wreak havoc on a basketball court.
And last year the Trojans were 8th in the nation in three pointers made which will challenge the Red Raider's young defense all night.
Gillispie ran out two completely different starting line-ups over the two exhibition games and Tech only returns three players from a year ago, so the Red Raiders are going to have to learn by trial-by-fire.
The start to the season starts at 8:30 p.m. right after the Lady Raiders get their season underway against New Mexico at 6 p.m. in the USA.
