Preview: Texas Tech vs. Indiana State

The Red Raiders kick off the Old Spice Classic against Indiana State, first meeting since 1971.

Texas Tech (3-0) gets underway in the Old Spice Classic when they take on the Indiana State Sycamores (4-0) at 11 a.m in Orlando, Florida.

The Red Raiders are coming off a win over the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 66-54 on Sunday, and the Sycamores took down Green Bay 57-56 on Sunday as well.

Indiana State defied the odds last season and continue to march right on through into this season. Many of the traditional pundits picked the Sycamores to finish dead last in the Missouri Valley Conference only to see them finish 3rd and go on to win their conference tournament, as well as receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Not to mention, they return four of their five starters and have a very balanced attack led by Senior forward Carl Richard who leads the team in scoring and rebounding on the young season.

But there is not one dominant player to watch on this team. Of the returning starters from last year, the highest returning scorer, Dwayne Lathan, averaged under 11 points per game.

If the Red Raiders hope to beat this team, or for that matter, compete with this team, they will have to play solid defense across the board. And, as we have seen lately, they will have to deal with a full-court press at some point which may determine the final outcome of this game.
