Tuberville Announces Changes to Staff

Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville announced some changes to the coaching staff effective immediately following a disappointing 5-7 finish to the season.

Following a 5-7 season, and missing the bowl season for the first time in 12 seasons and not being bowl eligible for the first time in 18 seasons, changes were expected to come.

On Monday, Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville announced that offensive line coach Matt Moore and defensive backs coach Otis Mounds have been officially released from the coaching staff.

Sam McElroy, defensive line coach has not been fired, but rather will be reassigned to another position within the staff, but just not in a coaching position.

With three coaching position open, two positions have already been filled by familiar faces to Tuberville in his time that he spent at Ole Miss and Auburn.

Terry Price and John Lovett have been announced as the replacements for Mounds and McElroy, no replacement for Mounds has been announced as of yet.

Price comes to Texas Tech from Ole Miss where he has spent the past three seasons as the defensive line coach.

Lovett joins the Red Raider family after spending two years, 2009 and 2010, as the defensive coordinator at the University of Miami.

Both coaches come to Texas Tech with experience at winning programs, and will be both profiled this week on RaiderPower.com.
