Lady Raiders Wrap Up Non-conference Play

Tech's meeting with San Diego marks the final game of the non-conference portion of their 2011-2012 schedule and look to stay perfect at the same time.

The Lady Raiders look to do something that hasn't been done since the 2003-2004 season – go undefeated in non-conference play.

The only thing that stands in the way of that now is a quality 9-2 San Diego squad, which is riding a four-game win streak into the squads first meeting with the Lady Raiders since 2003.

No. 13/18 Texas Tech (11-0) looks to continue its hot play winning three of its last five game by more than 25 points in each contest.

Both squads are coming off pure handlings of CSU-Bakersfield – the Toreros beat them 99-70, while the Lady Raiders took them down 81-63 on Thursday night.

This will be a different challenge for Tech considering that San Diego has more than six players to choose from and also three of the Toreros are averaging double-digits in points this season.

Leading the charge for San Diego is senior guard Dominique Conners who averages 16.3 points per game and also leads the team in steals with 27.

Following up Conners on the stat sheet is Morgan Woodrow (15.2 points per game) and Amy Kame (11.7 points per game).

For the Lady Raiders they have been able to stop teams just like this, Illinois and Penn State, this season winning both of those games by just four points, but maintaining their perfect record.

The depth of the Lady Raiders has been the major key to their success, for example in their win against CSU-Bakersfield, Shauntal Nobles led the way with 14 points, which marks a season high for her.

It will be interesting to see who steps up for the Lady Raiders tonight as Tech looks to finish non-conference play 12-0 and mark the 100th win for Kristy Curry at the helm of the Lady Raider program.

Game tips off at 9 p.m. central inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
