The first pitch of the 2012 season is now just around a month away for the Red Raiders and the pre-season accolades continue to roll in.
Barrett Barnes was recognized on the College Baseball Daily Preseason Top 100 Players list for the second consecutive season on Tuesday.
Barnes was ranked as the No. 19 player in the country and moved up 13 spots from his No. 32 spot he garnered on the 2011 list.
The Sugarland native joined Texas Tech closer John Neely as the other Red Raider to make the list this season. Neely was ranked No. 88 on this years list.
Barnes is coming off an impressive 2011 campaign where he batted .290 driving in 47 runs and racked up 15 doubles and 10 home runs.
In his career in the Red Raider uniform, Barnes is batting .316 with 118 runs batted in. He also has 34 doubles and 34 home runs making him the fastest player to 20 career home runs in the past decade with the at least 85 games under their belt.
The Red Raiders begin their 2012 campaign and open the renovated ballpark on February 17 against Missouri State at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
