The start to the Billy Gillispie era at Texas Tech has not been what many probably expected when he took over the job on March 20.
The Red Raiders currently sit at the bottom of the Big 12 Conference at 7-9 overall and 0-4 in Big 12 play.
Tech and Oklahoma clash at 7 p.m. tonight inside Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
The Sooners (11-5, 1-3 in Big 12 play) enter the game with not one, but four players averaging double-digits in scoring on the still young season.
Leading the way for the Sooners is junior guard Steven Pledger who is averaging 17.3 points per game, which ranks third in the conference.
When the Sooners are on the winning side, Pledger goes off for an average of 20.3 points per game, but to the contrary of that is his 11.2 points per game he averages when the Sooners lose.
With that kind of firepower in a lineup, the Red Raiders will have to try and match it but will be hard to considering they have only one player averaging double-digits in scoring.
Freshman Jordan Tolbert is averaging 13.5 points per game, but the last time out scored a dismal five points on 1-for-5 shooting from the field.
A bright point for Tech recently has been the play of second-year man Jaye Crockett.
The sophomore has reached double-digits in scoring four of the last five games and is averaging 12 points per game in that span. Crockett dropped 19 points in the loss to Texas A&M on Saturday in College Station.
In conference play Tech has lost three of its four games by 13 points or more and will have to play their best ball of the season to take down Oklahoma tonight in Norman.
