The Lady Raiders 2011-2012 campaign will continue into the postseason as on Monday Texas Tech was selected as one of the 64 teams to compete in this years Women's National Invitation - WNIT.
Tech was one of two Big 12 teams, joining Oklahoma State, to be selected for the tournament and will host the first round game at home inside the United Spirit Arena on Thursday with first tip set for 7 p.m.
To move on in the WNIT, the Lady Raiders will have to go through Eastern Illinois (22-8), out of the Ohio Valley Conference, and if they do the next opponent will either be Tulane or Mississippi Valley State.
This marks the third time the Lady Raiders (19-13) have made this tournament, 2008 and 2010, respectively, and this is the third straight season Tech has made it into a postseason tournament.
The farthest the Lady Raiders have ever made it was the third round, as in 2008 Tech made it to the third round before falling to TCU 81-74 in Lubbock.
In Tech's two previous appearances, the Lady Raiders have defeated Texas State and Houston, and Tech looks to become the first Big 12 Conference member school to win the WNIT since Kansas State won it in 2006 and Missouri in 2005.
Tickets are currently on sale at texastech.com and will go on sale at the athletics ticket office starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday according to the news release.
All tickets in the lower bowl will be $6 each and Tech students can get in for $4 a piece for the game, and the gates will open one hour prior to the first tip as usual.
