Demetrius Alston, middle linebacker and tight end, has signed with Texas Tech.

Demetrius Alston comes to the Red Raiders from Hutchinson Community College and before that was at Norcross High School.

The Norcross, Georgia native played middle linebacker and tight end and reported he could bench 265 pounds, squat 385 pounds and register a 33-inch vertical.

Coming out of high school Alston recorded a 4.68 40-yard dash and since then has gone up from 230 pounds to 261.

Alston finished his senior season with 102 tackles, 11 sacks and one interception.

According to Scout.com Alston said he could bring a lot to the table for any team that he goes to.

"I'm quick and have great speed. I use my hands a lot and can get off blocks. I just want to get to the ball…that's my focus," he said. "I want to get bigger and improve my pass rush even more."

Going into the 2010 signing period, Alston had interest from Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, UCF and West Virginia.

In 2010 he had a verbal commitment and an offer from the Bearcats and signed a National Letter of Intent.

Now in 2013, Alston has had interest from Cincinnati and Texas Tech both giving him offers but showed no interest in joining the Bearcats but instead becoming a Red Raider and gave his verbal commitment.

Alston is listed as a defensive end and is a two-star recruit according to Scout.com.
