Big Wide Receiver Inks with Texas Tech

The first offensive player has inked with Tech in the 2013 signing class.

The first wide receiver of the 2013 signing class is in for the Red Raiders.

 

Dylan Cantrell comes to Tech from Whitehouse, Texas where he was the ranked as the No. 75 wide receiver in Texas and the 531st wide receiver in the country.

 

Cantrell finished his senior season with 66 receptions for 1,396 yards averaging 21.1 yards per catch and finished in the end zone 15 times.

 

In his junior season, Cantrell had 87 receptions for 1,414 yards averaging 16.25 yards per catch for 21 touchdowns.

 

According to ESPN.com, Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Navy, Ole Miss, Rice, SMU, Texas State, Wake Forest, Washington State and West Virginia offered Cantrell.

 

In the end it was Texas Tech for Cantrell, whose 40-yard dash of 4.55 is just .25 seconds off the best 40-yard dash mark by a wide receiver in the country. Cantrell also registered close to the top in the vertical

 

ESPN.com mentions Cantrell's hands, route-running and catch in traffic skills are well-worth watching.

 

Going into the 2013 season, Cantrell could play a crucial role in the wide receiver portion of the depth chart especially with the loss of Darrin Moore and others.

 

ESPN.com listed Cantrell as a three-star recruit.
