Walking Highlight Reel

Jakeem Grant has caught 13 passes for 153 yards and a pair of scores this season.

He measures in at 5-foot-6.

Now that's not the usual height of one of the top receiving targets for a Big 12 Conference squad.

But in the case of the Red Raiders, nothing really has fit the profile of a usual Big 12 team this season, so it comes as no surprise that Jakeem Grant fits right into Kliff Kingsbury's offensive scheme.

"He's special with the ball in space," Kingsbury said. "He's a hard guy to tackle. Just super explosive. So we'll continue to be creative in ways to get him the ball. There are a couple of times when there are three guys around him and not one of them touches him, so he's fun to watch."

So far this season Grant has made people look silly in space and is speed is almost unmatched on the field.

Grant has reeled in 14 catches for 153 yards this season and two touchdowns so far in 2013.

One of those catches might be the top play of the year for the Red Raiders.

Against TCU on a third down, Baker Mayfield fired a pass in the direction of Grant and he proceeded to climb the ladder and make a spectacular one-handed catch.

"It was a great catch," defensive lineman Kerry Hyder said. "I think it made Top 10, I believe, number 9 or something. I remember him on the scout team when he was making plays on scout team. So I'm glad to see he's doing it to somebody else."

When comparing Grant to the other wide receivers that Tech has on its roster, there really isn't any comparison.

Fellow wide receiver Bradley Marquez, when asked about Grant, said it's fun to have a player like him on the team.

"It's awesome," he said. "I don't think anybody does it any better. It's good to be out there and see him and be able to help. That is the thing with the outside receivers. We've got to stay on blocks a little longer, you know, for him, because he does make those kind of plays and it's definitely fun to watch. He's an electrifying, elusive player and he can change a game in a heartbeat."
