2011 Recruiting Class Living Up to Hype

The 2011 football recruiting class, ranked No. 18 in the nation by Scout.com, remains the highest rated in Texas Tech history.

That class is the backbone of the current team, which is both 5-0 overall and 2- 0 in the Big 12 for the first time since 2008 and ranked No. 20 in the country. The class was hailed for signing one five-star in Delvin Simmons(who has since transferred to USC), eight four-star prospects and 27 overall (six enrolled early).

The 2011 class has had its share of monumental busts, such as heralded running back Ronnie Daniels from New Mexico, who was kicked off the team after playing in just one game and according to multiple reports was last seen this past June being arrested after found naked in a stranger's bathtub. But for the most part this class has lived up to the hype and there's still time for more players such as Michael Brewer and Derrick Edwards to make their mark before eligibility runs out.

Nine players from the 2011 recruiting class started last week against Kansas. Here's how they were ranked coming out of high school.
