LUBBOCK, Texas -- Jordan Tolbert scored a game-high 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Texas Tech over Angelo State, 65-46, in an exhibition Friday night at United Spirit Arena.

The Red Raiders were without coach Tubby Smith, who missed the game due to the passing of his mother, and senior starting forward Jaye Crockett, who was held out as a precaution.

Tolbert, a junior forward and returning starter, nailed the only 3-pointer he attempted and made 5-of-6 free throw attempts.

Freshman guard Randy Onwuasor made a nice first impression with 11 points and four rebounds in just 16 minutes off the bench. Onwuasor scored in a variety of ways; on an open corner 3-pointer, on layups on the break and on offensive rebounds and put-backs.

Point guard Robert Turner also performed well in his first appearance in a Red Raider uniform. The junior transfer from New Mexico Junior College, scored nine points and dished out a pair of assists.

Junior Jamal Williams chipped in with 10 points, two assists, a steal and a rebound, to lead the Red Raiders bench, which outscored Angelo State's 31-16.

Texas Tech jumped out to a 11-2 run in the first five minutes and led 37-18 by halftime. Angelo State cut the lead to nine with just under 10 minutes remaining and looked as if they were going to make a game of it. But the Red Raiders ended the game on a 16-3 run over the final 8:09.
