The Lady Raiders had a total of 36 defensive rebounds and Battle grabbed 13 of them.

"Defensive boards are what we talked about all week in practice," Battle said. "Boxing them out because they are a good offensive rebounding team. So for us to box them out and for me to get those rebounds was very key."

Battle has served as a leader on the court with the young team and was a big part in Wednesday night's 64-58 win over New Mexico. Head coach Candi Whitaker acknowledged Battle's talent and said she plays a central role on the team.

"Amber just has to be on the floor," Whitaker said. "She is rebounding, scoring, defending. She is doing a great job in all areas"
