TCU Attempts to Flip Texas Tech Commit

TCU is making a late push for Round Rock offensive lineman and Texas Tech commit Robert Castaneda, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound All-American.

TCU offered Round Rock senior offensive lineman and Texas Tech commit Robert Castaneda on Sunday.

The three-star prospect said he's glad he received the offer, but it came as a big surprise cosidering what he had previously heard from the Horned Frogs.

"One of my teammates told me when they were looking at him last spring they had said they thought I was soft," Castaneda said. "That's disrespectful to me. It's disrespectful to all of the hard work I put into this."

Castaneda said he brought it up to TCU when he was offered Sunday and they replied they have changed the way they recruit since last spring, they've reviewed his tape and think he's a great player.

"Obviously, I would have been interested if they had offered me sooner, like last spring or even last summer and I could have visited. It's a good school and a good program. But I told them thanks for the offer and that's about all that's going to come of it."

Castaneda is preparing to play in the Blue-Grey All American game with fellow Tech commit and Whitehouse quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Dec. 22 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound guard added he's still 100 percent solid with Tech and plans on making an official visit to Lubbock, along with most of his fellow offensive player commits, on Jan. 24.
