Texas Tech vs. Arizona
When: 1 p.m. Sunday
Where: McKale Memorial Center
TV: Pac 12 Network
Radio: 97.3 YES! FM
The matchup: Texas Tech is finished with final exams and the Lady Raiders start back up with a road game against Arizona. The Lady Raiders are led by junior guard Amber Battle who is the only player in the Big 12 Conference averaging a double-double. Tech tends to play more than two guards at one time with lots of depth at the position. Four freshman guards who have seen lots of playing time this season include: Jasmine Caston, Marina Lizarazu, Diamond Lockhart and Minta Spears.
Arizona is looking to snap a five-game losing skid. The only victory under the Wildcats belt this season is on the road against California-Santa Barbara. Arizona won the game 51-49. All other opponents have scored at least 60 points. The ladies out of Tucson have reached the 60-point mark just once during the losing streak. Their opponents average better statistics than Arizona in every category.
Tech player to watch: Junior guard Amber Battle continues to have the hot hand. She managed her third double-double against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said Battle is the reason the Lady Raiders won the game.
Arizona player to watch: Redshirt junior guard Candice Warthen is the best defensive player for the Wildcats. Warthen leads the team with 14 steals and has contributed four blocks this season. Not only is Warthen the best defensive player, but she leads the team in points averaging 14.5 per game.
Notable: Arizona is 0-2 at home this season. The Wildcats dropped games in Tucson to Stephen F. Austin and Wake Forest.
Quotable: "We're really more focused in practice. People are coming to work and throughout our past few games, people really understand that we've got to work harder and we're playing really good people, so we've got to work harder and get better in practice."-freshman guard Minta Spears
