Replenishing the Ranks: Dakota Allen

Texas Tech ended the 2013 season triumphantly with a 37-23 Holiday Bowl win over Arizona State. Now the Red Raiders must replace some important outgoing pieces. The following is one in a series of updates on Texas Tech 2014 recruits in the month leading up to National Signing Day. Summer Creek's Dakota Allen (pictured)is currently the only committed linebacker in the 2014 class.

Summer Creek linebacker Dakota Allen is still solid in his commitment to Texas Tech and looks forward to bringing energy to the defense next season.

Dakota Allen will bring depth to Texas Tech's front seven and is 100 percent confident in his commitment. In his senior season Allen was named District 19-4A Defensive Player of the Year and he credits that to his hard work.

"Getting that was an amazing feeling," Allen said. "I worked hard all season and was nice to see that pay off in the end. "

Allen has made an unofficial visit Tech and that was enough to make him feel right about becoming a Red Raider. He plans on making an official visit on Jan. 17.

"When I went on an unofficial visit my dad told me you will know where you are supposed to be when you have that certain feeling. I got that special feeling when I went to Texas Tech," Allen said.

Allen wants to bring energy to the defense and most of all win big while at Texas Tech. Watching the Red Raider's powerful performance in the Holiday Bowl against Arizona State only strengthened his commitment.

"I feel like they really showed up and performed well and I can't wait to be a part of it next year," Allen said.
