Texas Tech dropped the Big 12 opener, 68-38,to Oklahoma Thursday night at United Spirit Arena.
The Sooners (10-4, 1-0) have beaten the Lady Raiders 17 of their past matchups, with Texas Tech's lone win in that span coming in 2011.
Oklahoma senior guard Aaryn Ellenberg scored a game-high 17 points on a blistering 7-of-9 shooting and made all three 3-point attempts. She also finished with four rebounds and three assists.
While Ellenberg was lighting up the scoreboard, Texas Tech (6-6, 0-1) couldn't buy a bucket against an aggressive Oklahoma defense.
The Sooner built a quick 10-point lead, but Tech cut it to 20-16 with 7:00 remaining in the first half. Oklahoma would build it back up to 31-23 by halftime and took over after the break.
The Lady Raiders were held to 10 points in the second half and didn't score a point until nearly six minutes had run off the clock. By that time Oklahoma had built a 17-point lead and never looked back.
The Lady Raiders struggled to get the ball inside against the bigger Sooners' front court and struggled from behind the arc, finishing 5-for-31 and 14-61 from the field overall.
Junior guard Amber Battle led Tech with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists, but also finished with eight turnovers.
Nicole Griffin and Morgan Hook joined Ellenberg in double-digits with 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Red Raiders will look to bounce back against TCU 1 p.m. Sunday back at United Spirit Arena.
