Brewer Announces He Will Transfer

Word came down from the Texas Tech athletic department Wednesday that redshirt sophomore quarterback Michael Brewer was going to transfer after graduating in the spring. The news should shock no one as Brewer rarely saw the field behind a pair of freshmen in 2013.

Texas Tech redshirt sophomore quarterback Michael Brewer announced Wednesday his intention to transfer after he graduates this spring.

Brewer released this statement through the athletic department:

"I am honored to receive my degree from Texas Tech and will always call this university home. I will never forget the friendships and memories I have made here at Texas Tech. Lubbock has been nothing but great to me and my family and we will always appreciate that. Wherever I may go, I hope our fans will respect the person and player that I am. The decision to transfer was well thought out by my family and myself and was one of the toughest of my life. I feel it's the right decision for me moving forward. As always, Guns Up!"

Brewer threw for 440 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games over the past two seasons. The 2011 three-star rated prospect out of Austin Lake Travis High School never started for the Red Raiders.

After Brewer graduates in May, he'll immediately be eligible to play after transferring.

Brewer's departure leaves freshman Davis Webb, who threw for 2,718 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2013, as the lone scholarship quarterback on the roster.
