Johnson Solid to Texas Tech?

Ennis standout defensive back Jah'shawn Johnson gave Texas Tech fans a scare by visiting Austin last weekend and with rumors of being interested in Baylor at one point. Johnson talked with Tuesday about his plans and where he stands with Texas Tech.

Ennis defensive back Jah'Shawn Johnson made quite a few Texas Tech fans nervous
by visiting the University of Texas a couple weeks back and making plans to see what Baylor had to offer this past weekend.

"I had a good time in Austin, the coaches were very nice and down to earth," Johnson said.

But the Longhorns didn't offer the 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back during the trip.

"They haven't offered," Johnson said. "They didn't give me a reason why and I don't really know."

Johnson was then visited at home in force by Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury along with assistants Trey Haverty and Eric Morris.

Johnson promptly cancelled his trip to Baylor and told the school wasn't really for him and he didn't want to waste the Bears or his time.

The three-star prospect will visit Texas Tech this weekend.

"I just want to go mix it up with the coaches and see everybody again," Johnson said. "There's nothing I'm expecting to see that I didn't the first two times I visited."

Johnson said Tuesday that the coaches want him to play free safety and return kicks at Tech and that is where he's the most comfortable.

"I have never played corner, I would be willing to give it a shot if they need me to, but I'm more comfortable at safety" Johnson said.

When asked if any other schools were still in the mix Johnson said there isn't right now, he's all about Tech and expects to sign next week. Johnson added that Kingsbury has things rolling and he likes the school and Lubbock.
