Levi Set to Sign with Texas Tech

RaiderPower.com caught up with 6-foot-3, 355-pound College of San Mateo defensive tackle Rika Levi on Thursday.

When College of San Mateo defensive tackle and Texas Tech commit Rika Levi was offered by Oregon on Monday many assumed that was it, the West Coast native was going to jump at the chance to play for the Ducks.

Instead, the 6-foot-3, 355-pound NorCal Conference Defensive Player of the Year, cancelled his planned official visit to Oregon and declared on Twitter, "Haha tellem dis #GunsUpBaby #TechRaiders"

Levi confirmed his intention to sign with Texas Tech with RaiderPower.com Thursday night.

"I really got a good feel for Texas Tech's coaching staff," Levi said. "You know Oregon came in late and we really didn't see eye-to-eye on some things, and after I decided I wasn't going to pursue it they pulled their offer. I decided before that I was still with Texas Tech, though."

Levi is one of four defensive tackles, three from the junior college ranks, expected to sign with the Red Raiders next week on National Signing Day.
