Mitchell 'Impressed' by Texas Tech

Mike Mitchell is transferring from Ohio State after the spring semester to move closer back to home. The 2013 five-star linebacker and Army All-American from Plano Prestonwood visited Texas Tech on Saturday for the spring game and told on Tuesday he was impressed with what he saw. Who is in the picture and when does he plan on making a decision? Get the details inside.

Ohio State linebacker Mike Mitchell confirmed Tuesday he will transfer to a school in the state of Texas.

"This has been a tough year. Back home with my family, my dad's kind of been sick, and he got better a little bit during when I first got here, so I was okay with coming out then. It kind of got worse then, so and then I got injured near the season, so it was kind of tough to deal with sitting out and having my dad sick back home, so I'm real close to my family, so I just decided that I'd move closer back to home."

Mitchell is currently in talks with Texas Tech, Baylor and Texas A&M. He visited Waco and College Station during his first recruitment. The former five-star prospect attended the Texas Tech spring game Saturday and sat with two current four-star Texas Tech commits. Both of the commits, Jarrett Stidham and Breiden Fehoko, he sat next to are in the Scout's top 100 recruits.

What Mitchell got a chance to see impressed the Texas native.

"I was really impressed. It was my first time being in Lubbock and on campus and I loved the whole campus. I thought it looked really good. Most of it looked new and I was impressed with the stadium. The stadium looked great."

Mitchell is taking his academics at Ohio State seriously. It's the main reason he probably will not commit for at least a few weeks.

"I'll be out of here in about two weeks. I'll be done with all of my finals and get settled in back at home. I might make another trip back to Tech with my mom or something. (I'll) maybe make a decision after that."
