Texas Tech completed its second Oklahoma in the final game of the series 14-4 Sunday in seven innings due to the run-rule.
This was a big weekend for the Red Raiders (35-13, 11-7 Big 12) as they scored 37 total runs and had solid pitching to back it up. For the third time this weekend the Sooners (25-20, 5-10 Big 12) got the 2-0 lead early but watched it evaporate as the Red Raiders tacked on some big innings. On Sunday, Texas Tech was able to take the lead on a three run homer from Eric Gutierrez, who had a total of three home runs this series.
"It's fun watching this team hit when we get rollin'," Moreno said. "When we hit like that the pitchers can't screw that up so, it's really fun to watch."
After scoring in four consecutive innings the bats exploded again for the Red Raiders in the sixth inning. A total of six runs were scored and that ended the game in the top of the seventh with the run-rule. Adam Kirsch got a big triple that drove in three runs and then Proudfoot and Humphreys tacked on 2 RBIs that inning.
"We have strung together some good at bats and got some hits when we needed to and that's hard to defend," Tadlock said. "The pitcher feels the pressure of a team that is aggressive. "
Dylan Dusek did a solid job on starting on the mound by not letting Oklahoma get ahead. He pitched four innings and allowed four runs, seven hits but minimized damage when needed. Dusek was relieved by Dominic Moreno who shut out the Sooners the last three innings. Moreno only allowed three hits and recorded four strikeouts.
Texas Tech producing back-to-back Big 12 sweeps has boosted the team's confidence. A series sweep like this weekend was needed as the Red Raiders head on the road for conference play.
"We are brewing with confidence right now," Moreno said. "Were going to stick with what is working, the bats are going and the pitchers are doing well and were going to do what we have been doing."
