No.21 Texas Tech scored three runs
After the Golden Eagles (23-21) retired 15 consecutive Red Raiders (36-13), Tyler Neslony jumped on the second pitch of the inning to launch a triple off the right-centerfield wall. Zach Davis would replace him on the base paths and eventually score on a wild pitch from Jacob McDavid (L, 1-1).
Adam Kirsch would crack his third double of the night bringing home Eric Gutierrez from second after a walk. Jake Barrios attempted to lay a sacrifice bunt down, but McDavid decided to throw to third where Kirsch was able to avoid the tag from Brandon Healy. Kirsch eventually scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Alec Humphreys to give Tech a 4-1 lead.
The Golden Eagles wouldn't go quietly in the bottom of the inning. Anthony Sequeira started the inning off with an infield single. Dominic Moreno (W, 4-5) would strike out the next two batters. Down to their final strike, Sequeira would be on the move during a Logan Domenico single to right field. Moreno closed the books forcing Jose Trevino to fly out, clinching the Red Raiders fourth consecutive victory.
It was a pitcher's duel throughout the game. Although producing 11 outs for the Red Raiders, Corey Taylor managed five strikeouts and did not walk or hit a batter. Dalton Brown pitched four scoreless innings of relief. Cameron Smith allowed the Golden Eagles lone run after plunking a pair of batters in the sixth inning. Oral Roberts would eventually strand the bases loaded.
Oral Roberts starter Kurt Giller tossed seven innings allowing one run on four hits and two walks. Giller, like Tech starter Taylor, struck five batters. The only run Tech scored with Giller on the mound came in the fourth inning when Adam Kirsch produced his first double of the game to bring in Bryant Burleson from second base. The game featured a total of 22 strikeouts.
Texas Tech will continue its five-game road swing with a three-game conference tilt against the Kansas Jayhawks.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Friday at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan.
