Tech Offer 'A Dream Come True' for Freeze

Graham standout defensive back/linebacker Mike Freeze reacts to being offered a scholarship by Texas Tech. Freeze talks about which Red Raider coaches have been recruiting him, plus other schools in the mix for his services and more. Get the details inside.

Graham linebacker Mike Freeze confirmed with RaiderPower.com Wednesday he received an offer from Texas Tech.

"It's like a dream come true. Something I've been looking forward to."

This is Freeze's third offer, but first from an AQ school.

"This is my third one. I have offers from Bowling Green and Liberty as well."

The Red Raiders are not the only team in the Lone Star State interested in the Graham product though. TCU and Texas State are two teams Freeze mentioned during the conversation. The Bobcats and Arizona State came into the picture when speaking about positions.

"I'm talking to Texas State a little bit right now and I think they wanted me to play strong safety or defensive back, and Arizona State as well."

Freeze has experience at both positions. His location on the playing field is of no importance to him. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defender is about to throw discus in the state meet and also plays baseball. If offered the chance, he would not turn down an opportunity to play multiple sports.

"I told myself recently, wherever I go play college football, if my football coach would let me, I'm going to try out for the baseball team as well."

Texas Tech and TCU have had some heated contests between the two schools lately both on the field and on the coaching carousel. Perhaps the rivalry is making a stop in Graham to pick up the services of Freeze, who plans on visiting both schools soon.

"I'm going up to TCU to visit on Sunday, and then next week I might be taking a visit up to Lubbock."

Freeze recently told HornedFrogBlitz.com he grew up a Texas Tech fan. However, TCU is the only team he was able to see live college football games as a child.

"The only college football games I've ever been to are TCU games."

The official offer came from defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt. Co-defensive coordinator Mike Smith and recruiting assistant Jason Reed have also been in contact with Freeze.

Bowling Green and Liberty have an outside chance, but for the moment, there are two schools who lead the pack.

"Right now my top two, I'd say are TCU and Tech. I don't have an offer from TCU yet, but right now, yeah, those are my two."
