State Champ

Port Arthur Memorial running back and 2015 Texas Tech commit Corey Dauphine won gold in the 200 meter dash at the UIL state track meet Saturday in Austin. RaiderPower.com caught up with him shortly after to get his reaction to winning the state title with a blistering time 20.76 seconds--a new personal record.

Texas Tech commit Corey Dauphine is not just an elite football player, he is the 2014 UIL Class 5A Texas state champion in the 200-meter dash.

"It feels great. All that hard work paid off for me."

Dauphine, who is currently a junior, ran a personal best 20.76 to win the state title. He also placed fourth in the 4X100 meter relay.

The Port Arthur Memorial speed racer went into his race with some motivation.

"I felt like I had to prove a point that I was the fastest kid."

Although Dauphine is a state champion in track, he is solely focused on playing football in college.

"When I get to Texas Tech, I'm really just going to be concentrating on football."
