Texas Tech is heavily recruiting defensive end Reggie Walker and the hard work is paying off
Walker told RaiderPower.com the Red Raiders are tied atop his list with Mississippi State.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Ponchatoula high school product has narrowed down his options to a top three, which includes Mississippi State, Texas Tech and Kansas. Walker visited the Bulldogs in March with his older brother Reggie (who played for MSU in 2004-05) and said the visit went really well. In fact, after the trip Walker told Scout.com that MSU was his clear favorite, so apparently Tech has made up some ground since then.
When it comes to the Red Raiders, Walker said the thing he likes the most is his relationship with coach Kevin Curtis. Curtis attended one of Walker's practices and he said he liked his coaching style.
"Texas Tech is recruiting me the hardest," Walker said. "Coach Curtis came to visit me and he watched me practice and coached me a little bit. I like how he is a straight forward, tells you how it is and he is easy to listen to."
Walker, who will be a senior in the fall, hasn't started visiting many campuses besides his unofficial to Mississippi State, though he plans to make visits this summer. He named both the Bulldogs and the Red Raiders as part of the agenda.
Besides visiting his top schools Walker will be attending camps this summer. Walker, who was a first-team all-district selection as a junior in 2013, mentioned just wanting to grow as a player and that is his main focus as he prepares for his senior season.
Walker, rated as a three-star prospect by Scout.com, holds offers from Arizona State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana State,Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi, Texas Tech and Tulane.
