'I'm a Red Raider'

Stephenville quarterback Jarrett Stidham has long been considered a solid commitment to Texas Tech, but some questioned that notion after the four-star prospect visited a Baylor summer camp recently. RaiderPower.com caught up with Stidham to see if there was any truth to the rumor he was wavering in his commitment.

Texas Tech commit and Stephenville (TX) quarterback Jarrett Stidham quelled any notion he was considering any other schools, despite his appearance at a Baylor-run football camp last week.

When presented with the question in our interview on Friday, he reiterated:
"I'm a Red Raider."

Stidham, a four-star quarterback who committed to the Red Raiders in the spring, is quite possibly Kliff Kingsbury's most high-profile commitment for the class of 2015.

The 6-foot-4 Stidham had a banner year for Stephenville in 2013, passing for over 2,700 yards, rushing for nearly 1,000 and scoring 47 total touchdowns. He was rewarded with his district's MVP award.

"My boss that I work for here in town, he runs this store down in Waco," Stidham said. "We went down there to check on everything and make sure [the store] was all good.

"He played for (Baylor) Coach [Art] Briles in high school" – Briles did make his name coaching at Stephenville in the late 1990s – "and he's really close with the whole staff. So I went down there, talked to him, hung out and all that … it wasn't a big deal at all."

To clarify, Stidham added, "Yes, I'm still committed to Texas Tech."

Stidham's tone and calmness in the interview gave little chance that he was considering a change of plans. He seemed adamant about joining the Red Raiders; however, he has not signed anything yet and prospects of his caliber are very much in demand.
