Wilder Commits to Texas Tech

Texas Tech picked up its first commit of the 2016 class Sunday night when Katy four-star safety Collin Wilder announced his decision on Twitter.

Katy safety Collin Wilder is the first Texas Tech commit in the class of 2016.

Wilder announced his decision via Twitter.

"After a lot of prayer and guidance, I have decided to verbally commit to Texas Tech University! #GunsUp"

The Katy Tigers are a prestigious football team and a consistent product in state championship games of the biggest classes.

Wilder is listed at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds. Scout.com has him ranked in the top 300 players nationwide and as a four-star prospect. He tallied 115 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five interceptions, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries for the Tigers as a sophomore. This is after he started for Katy as a freshman during its run to the Class 5A Division II state title in 2012.

Katy lost to Cedar Hill in the 2013 Class 5A Division II State Championship Game. The Tigers held a 24-16 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Texas Tech continues to add highly rated prospects to their commit list. The Red Raiders currently have seven commits for the class of 2015. Wilder has visited Lubbock several times, including during spring ball in March.
