One of the most recent offers is Manvel star quarterback Deriq King. After showcasing his abilities at Houston-area Tech satellite camps, coach Eric Morris offered the soon-to-be junior shortly thereafter.
"Coach Morris offered me, I camped with them for two days and then after the second day, he called me and offered me. I also talked with Coach Kingsbury."
During his sophomore campaign, King aired it out for 2,626 yards and 36 TDs while racking up a smooth 1,288 yards and 17 TDs on the ground, which has undoubtedly earned the highly sought after four-star athlete quite a few looks.
"I have offers from Michigan State, UCLA, Baylor, Clemson, Louisville, and Texas Tech. Oklahoma has shown interest, along with Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Oregon State."
However, the Red Raiders are high on the list of the 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete and he didn't shy away from talking about the energy of the young Red Raider coaching staff.
"I love the new coaching staff, they are easy to relate to. I think the program is on the rise and will soon be one of the elite programs in the country."
King added that he has plans to visit the Tech campus next month, as well as talk about his preference of positions he'll be playing at the next level.
"I'll be visiting Texas Tech on July 15. My first choice would be to play QB, but I'm open to playing anything."
As early as it is, King also spoke up about the early favorites to land his services.
"If I had to name a leader, it'll be Texas Tech, but Baylor, Clemson, and UCLA are not far behind."
