Lafaele Focusing on School

Riverside Community College four-star offensive lineman and Texas Tech commit Lio Lafaele is making a push to graduate in December.

Lio Lafaele is done with his playing days at Riverside Community College, but he is not done playing football.

"I'm committed to Texas Tech, so I don't know what you wanted me to tell you, but other than that, just (focusing on) academics."

Lafaele is completely focused on academics right now as he is trying to get to Texas Tech as fast as he can. The four-star prospect has never been to Texas Tech before, but is willing to take however many hours he needs to gradate this fall.

"As of right now, I am not playing no football right now. It is just academics."

Before fall semester hits though, Lafaele still has summer classes to fight though.

"Right now, just working out and trying to bang out all my units so I can graduate in December."

Lafaele has yet to see the Texas Tech campus. He committed to the Red Raiders without a visit, but it is a goal of his to visit.

"I'm definitely planning on taking a visit. I'm actually trying to take any visit as early as possible, so I just worry about academics."

While Lafaele will be sitting out this season, it may actually benefit the 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive tackle in the long run.

"I'm actually trying to get three years to play three years."

Lafaele is sitting out this season in order to consider it his redshirt season. It may be a wise decision as he took an estimate of how many hours he may be taking this fall.

"Shoot, I'm taking 24 hours. That's why my main focus will be on school."

In case you didn't read the amount of hours correctly, Lafaele followed up with another statement confirming his busy fall schedule.

"However many hours I can take, that's what I'm going to do, so a lot."
