Giles Set to Visit Texas Tech

Ft. Bend Elkins star athlete Jonathan Giles committed to Texas Tech in May over offers from Colorado, Fresno State, Houston, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri and North Texas. RaiderPower.com caught up with him recently to see what he has been up to and if he's still solid with the Red Raiders.

Jonathan Giles committed to the Red Raiders back in May, but he hasn’t lost any enthusiasm about his decision.

“I am solid on Texas Tech, that’s my dream school,” Giles said. “I already told some of the coaches that there is nothing any other programs can say or do to change my mind.”

The Fort Bend Elkins quarterback threw for over 3,000 yards, rushed for 1,100 yards and scored 43 total TDs in 2013 as a junior.

However, Giles explained he is not done yet. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound senior is focusing during the summer break on leading his team on a deep playoff run in his last go-around at the high school level.

“I've just been working out most of the day and spending time with my teammates and really just getting our team chemistry together,” Giles said. “The one thing I always try to do every season is get better and better and be better. I feel like every season should be better than the year before.”

Giles, who is expected to play inside receiver at Texas Tech, said he plans on visiting the South Plains next week adding he is still amped about potentially being an important piece of the high powered, Red Raider offense.

“I'm visiting Tech on July 17,” Giles said. “I feel like I can help this team out a lot and fit right in with this offense. So to be a great piece of the offense would be great and also special.”
